On December 9, 2022, the State Council of the General Office of the State Council on the Arrangement of Public Holidays announced the official schedule of public holidays in China for 2023.

By tradition, the holiday schedule includes two major week-long holidays (often called "Golden Week"): the Spring Festival (also known as Chinese New Year) and National Day.
According to the Chinese calendar, the New Year begins on the 22nd. January 2023. On that day, the Year of the Rabbit, or rather the Water Rabbit, begins.

Year of the Rabbit

In 2023, the Spring Festival is celebrated between January 21 and 27, and National Day falls between September 29 and October 6, while the Mid-Autumn Festival also takes place in the same period.

It is known that Saturdays and Sundays are often marked as additional official working days in China to compensate for long holiday non-working days.

For example, in 2023, Saturday, January 28 and Sunday, January 29 are designated as official working days to partially compensate for the seven days off for the Spring Festival, and Saturday, October 7 and Sunday, 8 October, are designated as official working days to make up for the non-working days for the statehood day.

Private companies in China, however, have the right to set their own schedules - that is, to allow additional days off - but while respecting the official holiday calendar.
Since hardly anyone in China works for the 7 days after the New Year holidays so we will not be working during the period of Chinese New Year from 21.01. until February 6, 2023.
