The national airline, Air Serbia, will establish direct flights between Belgrade and Shanghai (Shanghai Pudong Airport, PVG) in the People's Republic of China on January 11.
Air Serbia has announced the introduction of a new direct flight route connecting Shanghai Pudong International Airport with the Serbian capital, Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade, with flights set to commence on January 11, 2025.
Flights, which will be operated by Airbus A330 aircraft, are planned twice a week, departing from Belgrade at 00:45 local time every Tuesday and Saturday, while the return from Shanghai will be at 22:25 local time every Wednesday and Sunday. Flights between Belgrade and Shanghai will also operate during the upcoming summer season, starting on March 30, 2025, and tickets are already on sale.
"With the introduction of direct flights to Shanghai on January 11, 2025, along with the visa-free regime and the signed Free Trade Agreement, we are contributing to the further strengthening of economic, business, tourist, and cultural ties between Serbia and China. We are confident that our regular route between the capital of Serbia and Shanghai will enable faster business and tourist travel, as well as more efficient exchange of goods and services between our two traditionally friendly countries," said the General Director of Air Serbia, Jirži Marek.
This strategic addition to the Shanghai air network aims to enhance international connectivity, serving as another gateway for partner countries within the "Belt and Road" Initiative, while simultaneously encouraging the improvement of trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between China and Serbia.
Airports in Shanghai currently offer connections to 114 international destinations in 48 countries, of which 58 destinations are located in 33 countries and regions participating in the "Belt and Road" Initiative. The addition of the Shanghai-Beograd route further enhances the global connectivity of the two cities, providing travelers with easier access to key destinations and strengthening the economic and cultural ties between China and Serbia.
